Beyond the Class
Community Events & Activities
-
Park Days
We gather together at Hurless Barton Park one Thursday afternoon each month. These casual park gatherings are wonderful times for our families to spend unstructured time together!
-
Field Trips
In addition to fun seasonal field trips and class-specific field trips, quarterly field trips are scheduled that tie into the era of history we are immersed in for the year, such as Medieval Times!
-
Social Activities for Students
Our optional parent and student planned activities include seasonal class parties as well as off-campus events such as beach days, movie nights based on literature books read, service projects, museum tours, hikes, and even dads vs. students flag football games! We enjoy and highly value spending time doing life together!
-
Social & Enrichment Activities for Adults
Parents and teachers value time together as well, so in addition to informal and impromptu gatherings, Peace Hill parents may participate in a book club focused on growing as homeschool teachers and planned adult-only gatherings (such as holiday parties, parent conferences, and even men-only/women-only events). Have an idea for building adult community and support? We’d love to help you make it happen!
Other Special Events
-
End-of-the-Year Historical Event
Tied into the era of history we’re immersed in for the year, a grand finale event is planned next to the end of our school year, such as an all-co-op Medieval Feast and Games event with archery and games, costumes, picnic food, and art and entertainment provided by our very own Peace Hill students!
-
Fine Arts Showcase
Experience some of the art, music, theater and poetry students have created in an informal showcase at the end of our 1st semester.
-
Last Day of School
We end the academic day early and celebrate together through fun games, activities, food, and t-shirt signing! Water balloons may also be involved, so beware! Our yearly wrap-up begins with a special time as a community honoring our 8th graders in their promotion to high school.
-
8th Grade Promotion
In addition to being acknowledged at the co-op’s last day of school, a special time is set aside for our 8th grade students to be honored with their families in a more personal setting in a Peace Hill family’s home.
-
12th Grade Graduation
We are growing by one grade each year, so in a couple short years we look forward to graduating our first 12th grade class of students. Stay tuned!
